KIS - Cultural and Information Center

The space designated for the information center of the town of Lomnice nad Popelkou is located in Husovo náměstí in the center of the town. Its location is advantageous for both local residents who utilize the offered services and for tourists who come to visit the town.
The actual space in the building designated for the information center is quite complex and poorly naturally lit. Considering the scope of services offered within the information center, it is relatively small and rather insufficient.
Our solution is based on the given possibilities of the space. The most significant intervention is the opening - reopening the opening between the internet café and the space for tourists. This will allow for movement through the information center in a loop without returning the same way. By incorporating the original hallway into the utilized rooms of the information center, there will be a slight increase in the overall space.
Our proposal aims to unify the individual rooms, and for this purpose, we mainly use selected materials. Due to the complexity of the space and the vaults, natural plywood has been chosen as the main material, which will be whitened to connect with the vaults or walls, thus not reducing or darkening the individual rooms. Outside of the hallway, where the original flooring remains, we propose flooring adjustments to achieve continuity of the space. The proposed graphics for KIS - Lomnice nad Popelkou will be used in the interior. Tourists would be able to remember the town better based on the used symbols.
For the design of the logo for the Cultural and Information Center Lomnice nad Popelkou, we sought a shape based on the traditional Lomnice gingerbread in combination with typography. This resulted in a standalone, easily applicable, and recognizable brand for the Cultural and Information Center.
