An unusually beautiful plot of land at the end of a small Central Bohemian village is dominated by a leafy lime tree. The future residents of the family house will be able to enjoy views of it as well as vistas of a distant city and the proximity to the forest. The owner decided that he needed shelter from the weather before the construction of the family house was completed, giving us the opportunity to design a somewhat unconventional modular unit.

We "parked" the container and the adjoining wooden terrace on railway sleepers so that they wouldn't conflict with the course of the construction and would make the most of the views. During the design process, we opened the building more and more towards the outside, until it became a frame for the quiet surrounding landscape, where more roe deer wander than people.

The wooden structure, constructed with beam construction, is complemented by OSB boards, floor and ceiling boards, and Cetris boards.
The project posed a challenge to avoid a feeling of crampedness within a built area of 24 square meters. This was the reason we opted for fully glazed walls on both longer sides and a generous room height (3.40 m). The miniature structure provides all the comforts for short-term stays. In addition to a small living space, there is a corner for a work desk, a loft for sleeping, a bathroom with a chemical toilet, and storage spaces.
The protruding wooden louvered screens can be tilted over the terrace in the summer, thus expanding the living area to a pleasant shaded spot.

Thermal insulation of the walls: 160 mm mineral wool
Thermal insulation of the floor: 240 mm mineral wool
Thermal insulation of the roof: 100 mm extruded polyurethane
Triple glazing: U (K) 0.7 kW/m².K
