Can you imagine living in a former industrial hall? Clients from Klobouk u Brna accepted this challenge and decided to transform an old storage facility into their family home. However, the journey was not simple – only the footprint and three exterior walls remained from the original structure. The reconstruction is a meter and a half higher, but still carries the industrial character of the original building. We were involved in the project from the moment the rough construction was completed, and we followed it up with a complete interior design.

Furnishing the elevated space with a lot of exposed concrete posed a challenge primarily from an acoustic perspective. To achieve pleasant sound comfort, we worked with a large amount of textiles – from classic curtains and carpets to fabric lampshades. The acoustics and visual expression of the interior are complemented by Lappa brand panels, which soften the space and simultaneously become a significant aesthetic element.

The kitchen in the main living area was conceived as a built-in oak "container," which can be entirely closed into a uniform minimalist block. Integrated into its mass is an entry niche with a wardrobe, a guest toilet, and a dressing room connecting to the entrance from the garage. The kitchen island with a black granite top develops the motif of triangular lines that appear on the sloping ceiling and refurbished steel trusses. This geometric motif is also reflected in other wooden surfaces, creating a unifying "acoustic line" of custom furniture.

The living area features a modular seating set called Cheers from the Kler brand, which allows seating from multiple sides – towards the fireplace, the garden, or the television zone. Thus, the space remains variable and naturally responds to the family's daily activity.

Above the kitchen block is a bedroom with a circular window into the interior. The entire parental suite is additionally connected by sliding doors, thanks to which the dressing room adjacent to the bathroom acts as a built-in wardrobe hidden behind the lined bed’s headboard. This detail brings a clean and functional logic to the space.

The children's room and a separate playroom are located at the end of the layout on the second floor. They account for a future division into two separate rooms for girls, so the design is materially neutral and "growing" – easily adaptable to changing needs. In both rooms, we designed smart bulletin boards that match the arch-shaped mirrors and function with magnets and dry-erase markers. The whole installation works with integrated ambient LED lighting that softens the atmosphere of the space.

The result is a generous house that combines an industrial character with the delicacy of textures and light. A place where technical austerity has transformed into a home with a unique atmosphere.
