Prayer House of the Church of Brothers in Litomyšl

The proposed structure represents the use of principles from ancient and modern architecture in a simple concept utilizing the terrain configuration. It further transforms principles from various classical cultures. Although small in size, the building "reaches to the clouds" and serves as a symbolic path that stretches into the distance.

By embedding the building, we achieved optimal acoustic comfort on one hand and minimal volume on the other.
The exterior is designed with consideration for vandal resistance - transparent coatings on exposed concrete and safety glass with a satin finish film. There is also a barrier to prevent climbing onto the roof.
The interior is designed to create a pleasant home-like environment for a small community. It is simple, meant to be enhanced with greenery.
The operation of the church and the entire center meets the client's requirements. The construction solution features traditional exposed reinforced concrete, thermal insulation, and wooden cladding. The external structural glazing consists of a hot-dip galvanized steel frame. Wooden Euro windows are painted silver on the outside and treated with oil on the inside. The entrance glazing has an aluminum frame. The space is unified by a floor made of poured screed. The walls alternate between exposed concrete, wooden cladding, and white plaster.
Artists Karel Malich (altar section) and Václav Cígler (glass cross) were invited to contribute to the creation of the church.
