A small boutique hotel with a bistro is located in the historic center of Český Krumlov, right at the entrance to the monastery gardens. Local plants and herbs have become the theme of the hotel. We find them on the wallpapers and paintings. They also form the names of all ten rooms. These are situated on the ground floor, two floors above, and in the attic. On the ground floor, there is also a bistro with a dining room, and in the cellar, there is a wine cellar.
At the owners' request, we tried to approach the interior experientially. As they say:
"People don't come to Krumlov just to sleep; they want to experience the city." Therefore, the place became our main inspiration. The hotel is located in a house from the 16th century. Unfortunately, it has undergone insensitive renovations in the past. We couldn't build too much on the historical layers. We had to recreate the atmosphere of mystery, imagination, and a certain scruffiness. We aimed to furnish the hotel so that it felt homely to guests yet still clean, familiar yet naturally surprising and playful. There is a sense of nostalgia here, but modern amenities such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, television, smart cloud solutions, etc. are not visible to the guests. We can find a number of design singularities here. The interior should feel timeless. It should not be unnecessarily historicizing nor inappropriately contemporary.
"The city is small, and there is no rush. The hotel and bistro should be a refuge for anyone who wants to relax healthily in a cozy environment and experience the charm of Krumlov as intensely as possible."
