The space for the chapel is designed from a hospital room. The main idea was to distinguish this room from the other rooms and to create a dignified place for celebrating services as well as for private contemplation. The design works with the use of clean continuous lines and simple materials. The entire space is dominated by an arched façade, inspired by closing apsidal chapels, particularly used during the Gothic period. Another element that has roots in this historical style is the cross, which is created by a slit in the structure, through which light rays pass. The intensity of the light coming through the window changes the intensity of the cross, similar to stained glass. At the same time, the motif reflects the words of Jesus: “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12). The sanctuary is defined by an elevated pulpit made of oak wood, which emphasizes the area with the altar, sedes, and tabernacle. The apsidal wall is made up of a curved drywall structure. The existing niche at the back of the room is complemented by a shelf for a bowl of holy water and prayer books. All furnishings and material solutions are chosen so that they do not disturb the visitor during prayer. The white drywall façade and light oak wood furniture create a harmonious atmosphere. The seating facilitates flexible usage for the immobile and bedridden patients.
