During the major flood in 2002, the pavilion of predators was completely submerged. As part of the subsequent restoration of the pavilion, the inadequate entrance area of the building was reconstructed. The main entrance was narrowed, and two new terrariums were created in the gained space. In the larger one, there is a water exhibit with anacondas and fish, as the snakes can grow up to 7 meters in length and weigh 200 kg; the 6-meter-wide window into the terrarium is made of plexiglass. The smaller terrarium features an exhibit of the Mexican Sonoran Desert.
The entrance façade of the building is covered with a wire mesh wall. The cladding stones are similar to the original massive walls in the outdoor enclosures for the predators. Next to the main entrance, there is a funnel-shaped peephole into the desert terrarium on the façade.
The restoration of the remaining part of the building, public restrooms, and the interior of the visitor space is not addressed according to the design by the D3A office.
