Men's apartment in Docích, Libeň

The apartment was created for an unspecified client – a single man, a woman, or a couple, who will not have to deal with prolonged problems of furnishing upon its purchase. The apartment serves as a model, showcasing the potential of the just completed set of residential buildings. The houses are the first phase of construction in the revitalized area of the Prague docks. Chmelař architects are co-authors of the first phase of the residential buildings project DOCK A.
The buildings are situated in a beautiful environment of river basins by the Vltava, which previously served as docking areas for shipyards.
The apartment, in terms of materials, colors, and shapes, draws from the concept of the buildings, which used only high-quality natural materials – limestone cladding, exotic meranti wood in two shades.

The living room of the apartment is more intended for relaxation than for cooking, which is why it was painted the same color as the kitchen cabinets. This downplays the kitchen area and allows it to flow into the furniture with the TV in the relaxation part. The apartment is lit by multiple light sources. Indirect sources created by LED strips placed in built-in furniture and between curtains in front of the windows. The LED lighting at the windows prevents outside views, and together with other dimmable lights in the apartment, it creates a pleasant atmosphere.

In the bathroom, a minimum of ceramic tiles is used to make the room feel more like a room, as is the case in palaces. The tiling is flush with plaster. The water meter system is not behind unattractive doors but is hidden beneath the cover panel of the bathtub, which is made of wooden composite with a wood veneer pattern – walnut.

The color scheme of the apartment is based on the contrast of light shades of beige, gray, gray-blue (walls, floors, curtains) and dark surfaces: black - windows, granite kitchen countertop, glass behind the work area, chandeliers, walnut wood - doors, bathroom furniture, dark blue - curtains, bedspread in the bedroom. The entire composition is enlivened by a round rug in eggplant color - aubergine.
