The extension is located in a quiet area of the original dispersed development in the cadastral district of Prague Klánovice. The surrounding development consists predominantly of family houses. The extension involves the realization of a new solitary cubic mass, which is connected via a slender connecting neck to the original family house.
The two-story extension and the original family house together form a compact whole located at the northern boundary of the plot. The southwestern boundary of the expansive flat parcel is formed by Klánovický forest. The extension of the family house is positioned on the plot and in relation to the original house so that the southern part of the garden, including valuable mature greenery, can be maximally utilized and preserved. The individual living rooms of the house open towards the garden, that is, towards the southeast and southwest. Conversely, the entrance and the auxiliary rooms (hallway, bathroom, vestibule, staircase, wardrobe...) are oriented towards visually less exposed areas.
The extension along with the original house serves as a two-generation residence. Functionally, the extension is divided into a social-living part with facilities on the ground floor and a private part on the upper floor (parents' bedroom and study). The children's bedrooms are located in the attic of the original house. The floors of the extension are connected by a direct single-flight staircase. The extension is linked to the original family house by a glazed connecting neck, which serves as a vestibule and allows interconnection of the layouts of both floors.
In terms of mass, the extension is designed as an elongated block, covered with a flat roof. A pair of massive pergolas are placed on the opposite façades of the extension, which have become a prominent artistic motif of the entire house. Structurally, the extension is designed as a classic brick building clad with a lightweight horizontal facade (cladding) made of strips of cement-bonded particleboard Cembonit. The ceiling structures are monolithic reinforced concrete. The pergola in front of the house entrance serves as a covered parking space. The connecting neck is conceived as a transparent mass with a visually exposed steel structure suspended above the ground between the extension and the original house.
