Building modifications and extension of the primary school in Veverské Knínice
The school building is located on the imaginary axis of significant buildings in the village of Veverské Knínice. It supplements a series of buildings including the town hall, the gymnasium, and the Church of St. Nicholas.
The ground-floor extension of the school with a flat green roof replaces the old courtyard storage. By setting back from the property line with the road, it creates the main entrance to the school, which is followed by a foyer with open cloakrooms. A new center of the school. The extension includes two specialized classrooms, a staff room, restrooms, and a technical room. The new classrooms open towards the church at the property boundary. Some architectural elements connect the building with the recently reconstructed gymnasium. The entire hillside is imaginatively connected.
The extension is based on reinforced concrete foundation strips, built with ceramic blocks with integrated thermal insulation. It is covered with a reinforced concrete slab topped with a green extensive roof layer. The windows are wooden with triple glazing.
Rainwater is directed to a storage tank and is subsequently used in the adjacent garden.
