Store of precious stones as an exhibition space - gallery. A scenographic installation of goods emphasizing the qualities for which people have admired them for generations. Colors and shapes, stones and wood... Visit the World of Stones in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm.
The extraction of precious stones from the dark depths of the earth, where we see the properties revealed by light, shaped by powerful geological processes in the past (reminded by a large-format photograph of a rock face...). The task was to create a subtle, simple background that would not compete with the shape and color richness of the displayed (and sold) objects. A simple grid that comes alive with minerals.
The layout solution was driven by the effort to functionally clarify and logically link the individual spaces. The offices are located (inserted as a piece of furniture) closer to the light, in the middle of the store, serving as a clear division between the front retail (gallery) part and the wholesale area. Through a doorway with glowing opal slabs (connecting to the entrance - the main axis of movement in the space), we enter a more prosaic world, where, on an area of 350 m2, the sale of large packages of stones and individual semi-finished products for subsequent jewelry production takes place on tables and shelves. The sorting rooms and the employee lounge have been moved from the center of the layout (from the dark) to the western façade with a showcase. Customers can thus easily glimpse the workings of the store.
The walls and ceiling were stripped of layers of old installations and paint, unified into one dark gray shade, from which only white radiant heating bodies stand out. The original flooring had glued carpets removed and cleaned. The main material defining the character of the interior is pine wood (a natural background for natural goods), from which the plywood walls of the inserted mass, furniture boxes, and shelves are "built." Also, the massive wood of the tables in the offices stands out against the background of gray walls and the dark marmoleum floor.
