The apartment is located in a building on the border of Vinohrady and Vršovice. Its position on the top floor and the choice of white as the concept of a modest renovation make it a bright and peaceful place to live.
A slight change in the layout, allowing access to the bathroom from the entrance area instead of the original access through the kitchen, alters the flow of movement within the apartment. The opening left by the kitchen door has been utilized as a shower nook, thus enlarging the bathroom. By relocating the installations from the smaller room facing the courtyard to the larger one on the opposite side of the layout, the proportions of the bedroom with the built-in wardrobe and the living room with the kitchen have been transformed. The optical division of the generous entrance hall by a wardrobe with a library creates a workspace with natural light.
The existing wooden floor has been painted white, giving the apartment a minimalist, Scandinavian feel. In the entrance area, some of the exposed colored coatings have been left intact. The choice of modern minimalist elements, such as glass touch switches and black faucets, contrasts with the rawness and "imperfection" of the original surfaces. The black-and-white combination is warmed up by carpentry products and details made of walnut wood.
