Museum of Kroměříž is located in the „Švabinský house“ at „Velké náměstí“ in Kroměříž. It is a site from 17th century listed under a heritage protection. Revitalisation of buildings and exhibitions of the museum began in 2012, when we designed an architectural study of a new spatial organisation and possible programme for existing buildings. Technical facilities have been moved from a ground floor of a yard wing to the top floor and the ground floor has been cleared for exhibition purposes. New glazed gallery with an elevator has enabled a barrier-free and comfortable access to the every exhibition in the building. In the next step, during the work on an implementation project (in cooperation with GG Archico s.r.o.), a new form of exhibitions “Kroměříž in the interplay of history” and “Guardians of time”, alongside with the exhibition of lifestyle in the attic have been designed. Changes were made gradually and the middle floor with the exhibition of works of Max Švabinský was left without changes, just as a lot of previous interventions and elements. Common visitor therefore does not have to (besides new exhibitions) even notice any changes that much. Nevertheless, there has been a significant enlargement of exhibition spaces, the accessibility has been improved and the museum has been enriched by a yard space, which is adjacent to the exhibition room and also serves as an exhibition and resting space by itself.
