Reconstruction of the corridors and the common room of the Institute of Nuclear Research Řež
In this project, two essential variables came together, necessary for an interesting result. First and foremost, it is the enlightened client, and further, an intriguing topic, which the reconstruction of spaces in an institution like the Institute of Nuclear Research undoubtedly is. The task was to refresh the hallways in the administrative building located at the institute. Furthermore, entirely in the spirit of current workplace trends, it was necessary to create a communal room for employee gatherings.

The overall impression we wanted to achieve is a bright, clean environment with an interesting motif that would permeate the entire design. Freely adapted, this symbol became the atom, from which we drew visually attractive paths of electrons orbiting the nucleus. Their graphic form inspired us - mutually intersecting lines and elliptical paths.

These lines were incorporated into the prominently blue vinyl flooring, which stands out in contrasting white color. A striking element is also the lighting fixtures in the communal room, which work with this motif. The ellipses themselves appear in the cutouts of the heating cover, as openings for sorted waste, or from which flowers grow in the longitudinal bench.

The central element is the kitchenette, which also, due to the elliptical floor plan, hides its equipment from the rest of the room. From the outside, it is clad in bleached spruce plywood, while the interior is executed in a similar blue color as the floor. To ensure that one is not completely cut off from the external environment in the kitchenette, there are openings (how else but elliptical) in the walls of the kitchenette.
