Family house in Kroměříž-Vážany

Sometimes in conversations with people, I look for arguments as to why they should have family houses designed by architects. When I first saw a family house in Vážany near Kroměříž, the whole issue suddenly became clear to me. It’s all about the quality of life and the uniqueness of personality. I understood why people build standard houses, why they compete with each other, what "popular" means, what "normal" means...
Once, I told myself that a proper house would be built once every 100 years by the Tugendhats. Now I think that every house can become amazing and excellent. Why? Because I changed my evaluative criteria and opened my eyes. And it's all because of that house in Vážany.
When we stand before this wooden artifact, we feel firsthand what modern architecture is. No pseud-artistic lines with a tongue stuck out, architecture is the science of life, of its needs. And where is the art? It lies in uniqueness, in a specific situation, in specific people, in specific answers. Build this house somewhere else and it will no longer be art.
The relatively confined garden plot determines the final mass of the house. The entrance is clear. The interior stems from the lives of its inhabitants. They probably like each other, as they visually create an internal space as a whole. Everything is clear: kitchen at the entrance, tall living room toward the garden, bedrooms upstairs with a terrace, bathroom, and a view into the treetops. Space is matter; architecture begins and ends with it. Vision and perception. A fascinating lightness of being and building. How simple and how beautiful. And it probably didn’t even cost that much. The house is built from wood, glass, and steel. Everything is honestly visible. The materials could hardly have been chosen more appropriately; a great response to the place and again - to life.
The architects provided a great answer. It's good that someone asked them because they certainly did not make a mistake. Mutual respect and a responsible approach led to this outcome, and because Archteam knows how to architect well and the Přikryl couple knows how to live well, the result is of high quality. A little truth-based mathematics: quality and quality is quality; any other combination does not yield quality...
