Family House Jindřichov
Project:2008
Completion:2010
Area:362 m2
Built Up Area:146 m2
Built Up Space:918 m3

The task was to design a family house on the site of the existing family house "chalupa", which was intended for demolition.
The design of the volumetric solution consistently arises from the principles of the existing chalupa. It consists of a main single-story mass built on a rectangular floor plan topped with a gable roof. The main mass of the family house is complemented by a similarly conceived smaller mass of the agricultural object - a garage. A significant architectural element is the setback of the social part on the first floor and the creation of a covered terrace. In a similar manner, i.e., with a pronounced setback, the other window openings of the living rooms are treated, achieving significant plasticity of the facade of an otherwise lapidary volume. In detail, the defining combination is that of smooth plastered facade with wooden cladding and sliding shading technology.
Conceptually determining for the expression of the interior is the retention of the open layout of the social part on the first floor with an optical connection along the longitudinal axis of the object. Another motif is the creation of a gallery above the dining area with a view into the truss of the second floor.

Layout

In the ground floor of the house, the work kitchen is directly accessible from the entrance hall, along with a block of sanitary and technical facilities (WC, utility room) with stairs to the second floor. Furthermore, from the entrance hall, a generous living space with a fireplace and direct connection to the outdoor terraces and kitchen is accessible along the longitudinal axis. From the living space, through the “filter” of the dressing room, the quiet part of the family house on the first floor is accessible. This consists of a bedroom and a bathroom with a separated WC, accessible through the aforementioned dressing room. The living space is divided into a dining part with direct connection to the kitchen and a social part with access to a covered terrace with an outdoor fireplace.
The second floor is accessed by a functionally and visually separated staircase. From the centrally located social space (study, playroom) – a gallery corridor, two rooms (bedrooms) with their own sanitary facilities (bathroom with WC) and a pantry are accessible. The rooms are designed as guest accommodations for occasional use.
The vertical load-bearing structures are designed from ceramic brick blocks 300 mm thick, fitted with an external insulation system with thin-layer tinted plaster in a light shade. In the areas of recessed window openings – terrace and loggia, wooden wall and ceiling cladding is proposed. The ceiling structures are contemplated from ceramic blocks installed into system ceiling joists. The roof of the family house and garage is designed from TiZn sheet metal.
