Despite the initial rejection of this project due to work commitments for several months ahead, the clients waited for the architects from the luni studio. As a result, an outstanding family house was created in Prague 18. As they say, man plans, life changes. The clients and current owners decided to move outside the capital even before the completion of the house. The house was occupied by the architect for fourteen days after completion – during this time it came to life – and today it awaits its new owners.
"This wasn't the first time I stayed overnight in one of our projects. We have great relationships with many clients, and we still visit them. But this project was different. Since the clients never moved into the house, we had fourteen days for photographing and enjoying the house. I can easily imagine living in it," states Lukáš Janout, co-founder of the luni studio.
The shape and dimensions of the house follow the requirements of the local zoning plan. The 171 m² of floor space includes three children's rooms, a playroom, a bedroom, a living room with a kitchen, and an office connected to a guest room. The entire house is bright, functional, timeless, and integrated with the garden.
"Not just the garden around the house, but also on its roof, where we created an extensive green roof accessible via a sliding HS portal. The owner of the house loves to grow plants, and she planned a more extensive planting in this space," adds Janout.
Large-format windows unify the interior with the exterior. A white-grey ceramic strip forms the façade of the building and also appears in the interior of the living room, where it smoothly transitions from the TV wall to the adjacent windows. The dining table is connected to the kitchen island and comfortably seats seven people. The house was completed including atypical built-in furniture combining lacquered and veneered surfaces. Large-format tiles were also used in the interior, applied in parts of the furniture as well as in the bathrooms.
The house has several interesting features. For example, a fold-out double bed in the office for potential guests.
"From the beginning, a guest room was part of the brief; due to the limited built area, we had to think smartly. The house also has built-in LED Christmas lighting, which creates a subtle atmosphere in the exterior," concludes Lukáš Janout from luni architekti.
