The corner plot of size 845 m² is located in the central part of the village of Klánovice. Like most of the plots in this area, it is flat and has a forest character with a predominance of pines. The surrounding development consists of family houses from the first half of the twentieth century, as well as buildings from more recent times.
The house is placed on the northeastern boundary, where the entrance and access to the plot are located. All living spaces open to the southwest, where the main garden space is formed.
The building consists of two interpenetrating volumes - the elevated part has a mono-pitched roof and is finished with a gray-green plaster facade, while the lower part has a flat roof and is clad with plywood featuring irregular vertical divisions. The windows are wooden with red glazing, and the large glass surfaces on the ground floor are shaded by sliding perforated walls made of plywood. The metal elements are made of titanium-zinc, and the metal products are hot-dip galvanized.
The idea of the overlapping volumes also reflects in the interior space. In the larger volume, the living area and one bedroom on the upper floor have a higher ceiling height. Two levels on the upper floor are connected by a short flight of stairs leading to the main single-sided staircase. The ground floor features a living room with a kitchen, a guest room, social facilities, and a garage accessible from the hallway. The upper floor is the private part of the house - bedroom, study, and utility.
The house is constructed using brick technology with ceramic ceilings. The plywood facade is designed as a sandwich with ventilation. The mono-pitched roof has rafters extending beyond the facade towards the garden and is designed with a ventilated air gap, covered with titanium-zinc sheet metal. The flat roof is constructed with an opposite layer sequence and weighted down with gravel. The garden terrace is wooden and treated with glaze. The fencing of the plot is designed in a combination of galvanized mesh and smooth concrete blocks.
Part of the request from the investor was also an interior design project. In the living spaces, oak industrial mosaic was used as flooring, while other rooms feature marmoleum. The bathrooms are painted with polyurethane coatings.
The project included the design of most built-in and standalone furniture elements.
