<translation>Family house in Veliš</translation>
Architect: David Kraus, Vladimír Kraus
Completion:2006–08
Area:280 m2

A vast orchard in the countryside. The basic concept of the house is a combination of two archetypes of a house with a gable roof. A pair of volumes that complement each other and contrast with one another. This is complemented by an extension of a garage with a similar shape character – a light open structure with a slight roof slope – complementing the brick pair. The concept is suggested in a child's drawing. The effort for simplicity, clarity, functionality, and a traditional character stemming from the surrounding village and landscape. The plastered house is the world of the parents, the brick one belongs to the children; the family meets in the living space, which is illuminated from all four cardinal directions. The aforementioned solution creates an open, intricate form with various nooks and spaces around the house, which are open to the orchard around. The house is placed in the emotional center of the plot, from this spot the tower of the church is visible, one can overlook the orchard, and it offers a view of the nearby historical lookout tower.
