The Sokolovna designed by architect Otakar Novotný attracts attention with its clean style of geometric modernism. The strong Sokol community in Holice contemplated building its own house as early as 1905, when it purchased the necessary land in the northern part of the city. The original design from 1908 included a gymnasium, lecture and theater halls, and public baths. The second revised version significantly reduced external ornamentation. The foundation stone of the Sokolovna was laid in August 1912, and the grand opening took place a year later during the II. regional Sokol gathering in August 1913. Due to financial reasons, the project could not be realized in full. The costly mortgage was paid off by the organization until 1936. The building initially served as a cultural and social center. Today, it is dedicated exclusively to physical education and serves local schools and sports clubs.
