The history of the Fransýr shop began when Gael Dandelot, a physics teacher at the French high school in Prague, increasingly transported missing cheeses from France for himself and his acquaintances. And since it is not enough just to bring cheese, it is necessary to take proper care of it and sell it at the best stage of ripeness, he quit teaching and fully engaged in the cheese business. First in a small shop in Letná, then we designed a store and its expansion for him in the EGAP passage (between Lucerna and U Nováků), and recently we completed a new cheese bistro together, this time once again in his "hometown" Letná. Everything is prepared for the best presentation and sale of perfectly matured cheese, not just French, complemented by a selection of wines and other delicacies, including semi-finished products of well-known French dishes.
In the irregular space with three arched fields, it was originally a wine shop; we replaced the floors, lights, and had custom furniture made. In the front, a bar counter will welcome you; in the back, you can sit with friends for a drink and have a tasting platter assembled for you.
The interior continues the furnishings of the space in the EGAP passage, where there is atypical oak solid wood and veneer furniture. In the new shop, there are unusual vertical display cases where you can comfortably view the offered cheeses and cold cuts at eye level; this is a solution that our "fromager" designed himself.
