The VISTA sports complex is hidden in the forests of the Motol valley. The tennis club, established in 1966, historically known as the VŠ Praha complex, is exceptional not only for its history and significance to Czech tennis but also for its incredible natural backdrop. The facilities gently follow the morphology of the terrain, and the surrounding forests flow into the open spaces between them, resulting in a predominantly green, cultivated area suitable for relaxation, recreation, and elite sports, which you would not expect to find just a few minutes from the center of Prague without knowing the context.
For several years, extensive renovations of all historical buildings and the addition of new facilities to remedy the complex's deficiencies have been underway. In a short time, the main club building will be significantly remodeled, which will now include accommodation for athletes, sports-rehabilitation facilities, and new dining services. However, the first construction phase has become a large tennis hall due to the priorities of needs. This hall includes three large courts with a strikingly blue Greenset surface that meets the parameters of international competitions, its own operational facilities, changing rooms, and stands with a skybox for sports events and training visits. Despite its size, the hall is designed to feel residential and comfortable. The large scale of the construction is balanced by the main structural material, which is wood. This material also appears on the wall surface areas in the form of acoustic panels with perforation, complemented by dark gray tones of supporting steel elements and Heradesign cladding panels, applied primarily for internal acoustic reasons.
The site for the new tennis hall was chosen so that it would visually assert itself as little as possible. After a longer search, it was thus placed in the southern corner surrounded by forests, under a slope that visually conceals it. The outer shell is also made of natural wood, designed for the architecture to blend in with the forest environment. This will be further enhanced in the coming years by additional planting initiated alongside the construction of the tennis hall. Only the entrance area with its facilities is different in character. This is mainly because the dark gray block made of irregular sheet metal panels already indicates a connection with the upcoming construction of the main club building.
