Proposal for the architecture of the retrospective exhibition of fashion designer Liběna Rochová for the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
New spaces of various shapes and volumes have been designed, integrated into the Moravian Gallery with new floors, ceilings, and walls. Such houses within a house. The newly created spaces are meant to support the models and resonate with them.
Each hall offers a different experience and spatial sensation. The introductory oval space is meant to draw the visitor into the exhibition and immerse them in the atmosphere of the entire exhibition, dreamy and timeless.
From the entrance room, one enters an exact room with floating black models on the walls. The main hall features individual capsules with white and colorful models. Another room is intersected by fashion show runways with three complete collections. The elliptical room with video mapping is dedicated to models supporting the charitable organization Debra. In one of the exhibition rooms, you will find semi-transparent cocoons for individual models and artworks that served as inspiration. An audiovisual experience is provided by the designed installation of a labyrinth with projections. The conclusion of the exhibition offers a surprise in a symbolic passage shell/snail, along with photographs, sketches, and a final model.
It is about the connection of the architecture of the entire exhibition with the models, music, projections, and scents. The viewer is meant to emerge in the world, or perhaps better yet, in the mind of Liběna Rochová.
The intention was to design an environment that is as bright and clean as possible – from floor to ceiling – evoking tranquility, flow, and dreaminess.
The imprint of the architecture of the entire exhibition is in the design of all spaces and parts of the exhibition down to the last detail, including the design and selection of mannequins made from 3D printing.
For the architect, designing an installation or exhibition is a different dimension of creation. They can design more creatively, freely, and generously, on the edge of the possible.
