The genius loci of Brno's Zen Market is unique due to the existence of three theaters in one square - the baroque Reduta, the experimental Theatre Husa na provázku, and the daily improvised performance of vendors and shoppers. The aim of our project was to create dignified and pleasant conditions both for the "actors" of this daily play and for the "audience" - that is, not only a stage - clearly and clearly defined space for the placement of stalls, but also seating - benches, nooks, water features, and trees providing shade.

The design emphasizes the compactness of the solution - the central area of the square has a clear uncomplicated shape, is paved with the existing rearranged granite cubes and complemented by old worn-out paving. The area is separated from the sidewalks by a movable strip that has the character of a roundabout, on which essential parking spaces for cars are concentrated.

We divided the southern area in front of the Moravian Museum into three spaces, thus creating a quiet nook planted with trees, benches, and three simple fountains integrated into the paving. This resulted in a place allowing pedestrians in the square to rest, observe the market bustle, and potentially consume purchased fruit, along with providing children the opportunity for water play with the fountains and bronze aquatic creatures (to the displeasure of parents and the delight of children). In the upper part of the square in front of the Husa na provázku theater, we designed an unobstructed area, allowing for the creation of an amphitheater for the theater's cultural productions with benches and a number of trees along the facades of the buildings.
