The first purely functionalist building in Brno concluded years of searching for a new concept of architecture.
Its creation was undoubtedly influenced by Le Corbusier’s lecture in Brno in the spring of 1925 (besides Le Corbusier, the lecture series also featured Oud, Gropius, Loos, and others).
The entire building is conceived as one cohesive harmonic whole. The interior and exterior are connected by large sliding windows.
The café was demolished in 1964 due to the construction of a theater; in 1995, a replica was built nearby its original location (including the originally unrealized part).
