Unique lecture will introduce both built and unbuilt structures of the significant functionalist architect. This year marks 130 years since the birth of Bohuslav Fuchs. This architect is noted as one of the most significant architects and urban planners of interwar Czechoslovakia. He also left his mark in Jihlava. The Jihlava commissions are chronologically included in Fuchs's classic functionalist period. Whether it concerns the design of the Jihlava Beseda hotel at the mouth of Srázná street on Freedom Square, participation in competitions that resulted in the development of the city’s regulatory plan, the construction of the Sokolovna, or concepts for addressing housing issues. The design of the cinema near the Mother of God Gate and concepts for school buildings are particularly interesting. However, not everything was successfully realized, and even fewer have been preserved to the present day. The lecture opens a cycle "Jihlava through the centuries," which focuses on the development and architecture of the city of Jihlava.
