The AAAD (Architecture, Art and Design School) in Prague will once again be part of the Night of Scientists event! You can look forward to the UMPRUM Living Lab - a demonstration of the use of 3D printing and robotic fabrication or peek behind the scenes of artistic research on the topic of Metro as a resource.
The Night of Scientists is a Europe-wide science popularization event that involves all interested parties in an inspiring environment of science. This year's theme is Wealth. UMPRUM will present a research area where science intersects with art as part of this event. It will bring closer a space where natural materials, algorithms, and critical questions create new approaches to the future of design, architecture, and urbanism.
The entrance hall of the UMPRUM Technology Center will transform into an open laboratory, where a demonstration of the use of 3D printing and robotic fabrication will take place under the guidance of PhD students and a research team from the Department of Architecture and the Department of Applied Arts. New forms from clay, construction waste, and biomaterials will be created live here – along with new ways of thinking about sustainability and the usability of clay materials today.
Metro as a resource Presentation of artistic research / lecture from 6:00 PM
As part of the Night of Science, UMPRUM will offer a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes of research where science meets art. Natural materials and critical questions here create new approaches to the future of design, architecture, and urbanism. We will present the results of interdisciplinary collaboration and the current findings of artistic research Metro as a resource, which looks at the construction of the metro not only as transportation infrastructure but as an environment full of material, cultural, and environmental layers – as a resource waiting for a new interpretation.
