Biography
Friedrich Kurrent was an Austrian architect, a professor at the Technical University of Munich, and a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts. After graduating from high school at the Technical School in Salzburg, he continued his studies at the master school of Clemens Holzmeister at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (1950-53). At the same time, he founded an architectural association together with three other classmates called 'arbeitsgruppe 4'. After the departure of Johannes Ludwig, he held the position of professor of architectural design and spatial creation at the Technical University of Munich from 1973 to 1996. From 1976 onwards, he also taught the subject of sacred architecture at the Munich University of Technology, succeeding Josef Wiedemann. In addition, he was a founding member of the Austrian Society for Architecture in 1965, which aimed to promote and popularize the art of building.
