Prague - The Architect of the Year Award 2016 was awarded to architect Marcela Steinbachová. The award evaluates exceptional contributions to architecture in the past five years and is presented at the FOR ARCH construction fair. According to the jury that decides on the award, Steinbachová represents an architect who, in addition to her excellent personal work, is dedicated to educating both professionals and the general public in the field of architecture. She is behind the establishment of the Kruh association, which has brought dozens of architects from around the world to the Czech Republic for lectures, discussions, and workshops.
The jury noted the outstanding success of the Architecture Day event, which this year is taking place for the sixth time, where hundreds of architects, theorists, historians, and many others guide thousands of interested members of the public through selected locations across the country. In the past year, Steinbachová realized the exhibition Rooms at the House of Art in České Budějovice, which aimed to help explain some aspects of architecture to the very youngest, as the jury members recalled her recently awarded work.
Marcela Steinbachová studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Emil Přikryl and also studied architecture at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design. She has many foreign internships and awards both domestic and international to her credit. Since 2007, she has been an assistant professor at the AVU School of Architecture. She organizes lectures on architecture and supports education in architecture.
The Architect of the Year Award is an honorary title awarded annually to a person who has excelled or has long-term excellence in the field of architecture and who significantly contributes to its good reputation. The organizer - the ABF company, organizer of the fair, wants to emphasize the close professional connection between the builder and the architect with this award.
