Liberec - Seven proposals were submitted for the architectural competition regarding the design of the transportation terminal in Liberec. The jury will select four to five of them to advance to the second and final round. This will take place from October to March next year. This was announced today in a press release by the Deputy Mayor of Liberec, Jiří Janďourek (Mayors for the Liberec Region).
The new terminal is set to be built around the main train station. According to preliminary estimates, its construction will cost more than two billion crowns. It is a joint project of the city, the Liberec Region, and the Railway Administration. The terminal will connect rail, bus, and urban public transportation. The dominant part will remain the historic station building from 1859.
Participants in the competition were tasked with developing a proposal for urban, architectural, and transportation solutions not only for the terminal but also for the immediate surroundings. "We will thoroughly evaluate all submitted proposals. Those we select based on the assessment will advance to the finals. The jurors and the team of invited experts can also ask individual authors to address any comments. Following that, there will be a second round, from which the winner will emerge," added Janďourek.
