Prague - The Grand Prix of Architects this year was awarded to the new CSOB headquarters in Radlice, Prague designed by architect Josef Pleskot and his AP atelier in Prague. The chairman of the Association of Architects, Oleg Haman, told journalists today that this developer project has been recognized for the first time. The construction involved David Ambros, Pavel Fanta, Markéta Jurečková, Helena Kohlová, Daniel Kříž, Zdeněk Rudolf, and Jiří Trčka. An important aspect of the awarded office building is the connection of an open work environment with natural elements. The investor's requirement was to design a modern building free from unnecessary ostentation, with a flexible arrangement of the working environment that allows for various transformations according to the needs of the banking headquarters. The building was also recognized with an honor award from the Ministry of the Environment. Other architects were also honored today. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Jaroslav Kadlec, who is, for example, the author of the Glass Fountain integrated into the exhibition pavilion for Expo 1958. As an educator, Kadlec contributed to the training of three generations of architects at the Academy of Art, Architecture, and Design. Various projects were successful in the competitive showcase. The prize for new construction was awarded to Pavel Hnilička, Petra Bláhová-Kandusová, Veronika Hamšíková, and Jan Dluhoš for Terraced House in Košíře, Prague. The winners in the single-family house category were three submitted works: conversion of a silo into a family house in Olomouc by Szymon Rozwalka and Tomáš Pejpek, EggO house by Boris Redčenkov, Prokop Tomášek, and Jaroslav Wertig, and family house in Černošice by Jan Studený and Martin Vojty. In the interior category, the central staircase of the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, designed by Jan Šesták, was successful. The authors could submit their work in a total of seven categories, including garden design and artistic work in architecture. The Grand Prix of Architects - National Award for Architecture took place for the fifteenth time this year. It was a showcase of the best architectural works realized in the Czech territory in 2007. Jury chair Juliette Bekkering from the Netherlands recommended to Czech architects that the competition be held every two years instead of annually. The works that participated in the competition can be seen from June 28 to August 15 at the Trade Fair Palace in Prague.
