Competition City of Skyscrapers

From November 17 to 30, 2005, the 3rd International Architectural Biennale will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, under the subtitle Euphoria. The event will include exhibitions, lectures, screenings, and discussions, featuring internationally renowned architects, designers, musicians, and theorists. The latest “euphoria” from current social developments, as well as architectural projects, will be presented through various media.
The biennale is also accompanied by an international competition titled City of Skyscrapers, organized by the Slovenian architectural office Monochrome Arhitekti. The competition takes place at www.architecturebiennaleljubljana.si/competition/, where all information is available. The language of the competition is English, and registration will occur from August 15 to October 15, 2005. The goal of the competition is to design a vertical city with an emphasis on its social organization. Participants will choose parameters that their design will adhere to in several steps and must submit a 3D model and a text description of the project concept by October 20. The jury's chair is Prof. Peter Gabrijelčič from the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, with other members including Odile Decq, François Roche, Roemer van Toorn, and Gary Chang. The announcement of the awarded projects will take place on November 17, 2005, and all will be displayed during the Biennale at the Tobačna factory in Ljubljana. The three best works will be awarded a monetary prize of 300 euros.
