The National Gallery in Prague is announcing a selection procedure for the project and subsequent implementation of the artistic solution for the Czech-Slovak exhibition pavilion for the 52nd International Art Biennale in Venice in 2007. The preparation of the exhibition in the Czech-Slovak pavilion in Venice is undertaken alternately by the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with participation in the 52nd edition assured by the Czech Republic, and the organization is entrusted to the National Gallery in Prague by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. The commissioner will be Doc. PhDr. Tomáš Vlček, director of the Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art, and the coordinator of the preparations will be Mgr. Lucie Šiklová, curator of SMSU. The proposed projects should creatively present current themes and/or prominent personalities of the Czech or Slovak artistic scene in an international context.
Conditions
The project must include
1. a detailed description including a proposal for the visual solution of the exhibition 2. a line-item budget. The maximum financial limit is 1,200,000 CZK; this amount may not be exceeded and must cover all anticipated costs (including production, realization, transport, fees, etc.). The Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the National Gallery in Prague support all efforts to obtain private funding for the realization of the project. 3. CV of the author(s) with documentation of their work 4. CV of the curator(s) with an overview of their previous activities

The project prepared according to the above conditions must be submitted in one copy exclusively by registered mail (applications sent by e-mail or fax will not be accepted) in an envelope marked with the title 52. Venice Biennale to the address: National Gallery, Collection of Modern Art - Secretariat, Dukelských hrdinů 26, Prague 7, 170 00, no later than October 25, 2006.
After the deadline, submitted (the postal stamp is decisive; the last submission date is October 25, 2006) or incomplete projects will not be included in the selection procedure.
Projects will be evaluated by an expert committee that will meet on October 30, 2006. The results will be published on the National Gallery's website on November 2, 2006.
