East Bohemian Gallery in Pardubice, House U Jonáše, Pernštýnské nám. 50, 530 02 Pardubice

During the period from July 20 to July 24, 2010, an architectural workshop took place in the East Bohemian Gallery in Pardubice at the House U Jonáše. This was part of a more extensive project LABORATORY no. 50 focused on revitalizing and exploring the gallery space in the House U Jonáše, looking for overlaps between various artistic genres, seeking connections and relationships between humans and space.

Participants of the architectural workshop / architectural laboratory were tasked with exploring the space of the city of Pardubice, looking for ways to animate and work with it. An initiating discussion on the topic was held at the House U Jonáše on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, with the participation of several significant figures from the contemporary (not only) cultural scene of the Czech Republic. In five days of work in the "architectural laboratory," interesting concepts emerged, which we present to you in the form of this exhibition.

We believe that the creative and unburdened perspective of these young promising architects will contribute not only to the creation of new strategic and conceptual material for the development of culture in the city of Pardubice but also demonstrate to the general public the possibilities of perceiving urban cultural space, the possibilities of perceiving architecture, and forms of culture.

The exhibition also includes a presentation of urban studies and opinions on selected locations, initiated by the Department of the Chief Architect of the city of Pardubice, which should lead to the revitalization of problematic parts of the urban space and to improve the quality of life within it.

The exhibition was prepared by the o. s. Terra Madoda as part of the long-term project OFFCITY in collaboration with the East Bohemian Gallery in Pardubice and the Department of the Chief Architect, with the support of the statutory city of Pardubice and the Czech Architecture Foundation.
