9/11/2011–12/2/2012 Exhibition hall „13“ Author/authors: Petr Domanický, Petr Jindra Curator/curators: Petr Domanický, Petr Jindra Places, people, events - the context of Loos' work in Pilsen / Places, people, events - Loos' work for Pilsen in context The first part of the exhibition (“places”) will point out the logic of the location of individual interiors of luxury apartments near today's Klatovská Street in Pilsen or directly on this street, which represented the best address in the city during the interwar period. At the same time, the first part of the exhibition will deal with the layout solutions of Loos' apartments in relation to the design of the apartment buildings in which the apartments are located.
The second part of the exhibition (“people”) will focus on the personalities of significant clients of Loos' projects in Pilsen, primarily from among industrialists, doctors, etc. It will also be interested in Loos' collaborators in Pilsen, primarily Karel Lhota and Norbert Krieger. The exhibition will also present other contemporary apartment interiors and villas from Pilsen by other architects, both in a functionalist and traditionalist line. The names of significant companies that participated in the creation of Loos' works will be mentioned.
In the third part, titled “events”, attention will be paid to the fates of Loos' apartments from the time of the Second World War to the present.
The exhibition is under the patronage of the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic Jiří Besser, the Governor of the Plzeň Region Milan Chovanec, and the Mayor of the City of Pilsen Martin Baxa.
