The goal of the exhibition is to present the work of renowned CGI studios, led by graduates of the Brno Faculty of Architecture. They symbolically return to the place where they began familiarizing themselves with architectural visualization as students and where they decided to dedicate their future careers to this artistic discipline.
The exhibiting artists have established their reputation through years of collaboration with leading Czech and, above all, international architectural firms. The images they created have led to numerous awards in architectural competitions and brought their clients a wealth of interesting projects. It can undoubtedly be stated that the CGI creators represented in the exhibition are among the most successful graduates of our faculty. They are an unmistakable part of the local creative industry, supporting the image of Brno as a Central European Silicon Valley.
CGI tools (Computer-generated imagery) sparked a revolution in architectural visualization at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. Due to political changes, these modern technologies could be more widely applied in the domestic scene. Initial timid, rather technical outputs were soon replaced by serious artistic creation with ambitions to engage the viewer and evoke strong emotional experiences. The exhibited works mostly fall into the category of applied art for clients from prominent architectural offices; however, the exhibition also includes images from free creation, where the personal ambitions of the visualization artists exceeded the descriptive need of the architectural project and ventured into a dream world of experiments and provocations. This tension between applied art and free creation is one of the main themes of the exhibition.
