The second year of the architecture festival Open House Prague on the weekend of May 14-15, 2016 will open 51 interesting buildings that are not normally accessible to the public. This gives people a unique opportunity to look inside buildings they pass by on the street every day. Entry to all buildings is free. The vast majority of buildings are accessible without prior reservation; only six objects with uninterrupted technical operation required online registration this year.

As part of the accompanying program, we offer guided tours with architects or lecturers (the House at the Stone Bell, J. Kepler Grammar School, Main Point Karlín, studio PRÁM). The National Technical Library invites you to a lecture by the architect of the building Roman Brychta and a film screening about the construction process. Photography exhibitions are set up in the Podkovářská Area, the House at the Two Golden Bears, the House at the Golden Corner, in the Sazka building, and in the Glass Palace. An exhibition about the history of the building at the House of Trade Unions. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague will present examples of student projects in their laboratories (electroformula, high voltage laboratory, robotic vehicles, face recognition, etc.). Religious services will be held on both festival days at the Bethany Community Center, and the velodrome on Na Třebešíně Street will lend bicycles and helmets for free to try out the fastest cycling track in the Czech Republic.

Entry to all buildings is free. Operation in the buildings will be managed by festival volunteers and typically by the building staff as well. To ensure the smooth running of Open House Prague, about 150 volunteers are needed. Their recruitment will be ongoing until Friday, May 13. You can register with the volunteer coordinator Klára Veselá, email: [email protected], tel: 777 833 753.

The OPEN HOUSE PRAHA 2016 mobile application for iOS and Android is available for free download. The application also offers a map with navigation, news, and the possibility to chat with other users. The application was provided by Ackee.
