OK PLAN ARCHITECTS

We would like to invite you to the exhibition OKPLAN ARCHITECTS'15, which will be held at the gallery The Center for Architecture Breakthrough Space, 536 LaGuardia Place, New York, from April 2 to April 30, 2015.

OKPLAN ARCHITECTS was founded in 1999 by architect Luděk Rýzner and has established a strong position among architectural studios in the Czech Republic during its 15-year existence.

The exhibition with the subtitle 15 maps significant projects of the studio since its establishment, with a special emphasis on family house constructions. Private clients represent the largest group of investors and builders, and by placing their trust in the hands of the architect and experimenting with used materials and unusual constructions, they have enabled the development of the studio and the realization of many interesting houses.
OKPLAN ARCHITECTS has received numerous awards from professional critics in the Czech Republic for its buildings, and residential projects are regularly published in magazines.

OK PLAN ARCHITECTS has previously presented its work at solo exhibitions in the Czech Republic as well as part of various interdisciplinary and multi-genre exhibitions and projects, which were subsequently showcased on an international scale.

On the occasion of the studio's 15th anniversary, the book OKPLAN ARCHITECTS 2009-2014 was published in 2014, which, along with the previous book OKPLAN ARCHITECTS 1999 - 2009 and a short film from 2004, offers a comprehensive overview of all the studio's buildings.

In connection with this 2014 book, an exhibition is being created that aims to present the studio and its work in New York. The exhibition can also be understood as a supplement to the exhibition PRAGUE FUNCTIONALISM/ TRADITION AND CONTEMPORARY ECHOES, which focused on the world-renowned architecture of functionalism and chose to present the work of OK PLAN as one of the “echoes”.

The exhibition itself focuses on the best and most important buildings, also presenting several visions, the studio as such, and the role of the architect in the process of building houses in the Czech Republic. The buildings are presented on panels in the form of photos, floor plans, short texts, and short films that were made with investors and evaluate the collaboration with the studio.

The effort to present OKPLAN as widely as possible is also evidenced by the fact that a stylized workspace of the architect is part of the exhibition. Luděk Rýzner, as the main representative and face of the studio, will be present daily from 6 to 7 PM to personally answer visitors' questions.
