On Saturday, June 10, 2017, the Faculty of Architecture at CTU will once again participate in the Prague Museum Night. In addition to exhibitions, workshops, and art studios, this year, nighttime visitors can look forward to architecture simulations in virtual reality or 3D printing from discarded PET bottles. The faculty will be open to those interested in studying from 4 PM onwards. Preceding the Prague Museum Night program, there will be a ceremonial closing of the exhibition of studio works "Fabrika Summer 2017" starting at 6 PM, organized by the Association of Architecture Students at CTU. Nearly 60 studios on seven floors will present semester projects and examination works of students in architecture and urbanism, industrial design, and landscape architecture. Projects on current topics such as a gallery for the Slav Epic, a maternity hospital in Letna, a scout base in Liberec, or the completion of the fortress town of Josefov will be on display. The examination works of industrial design students will show how they managed to tackle the design of toys inspired by a visit to the zoo after a year of study. The Model Laboratory of CTU (MOLAB) will offer demonstrations of experimental research in 3D printing: “3D printing is becoming a common manufacturing method and there is a huge variety of different new materials. However, we are interested in one that has so far been in the shadows - recycled B-PET, which is made from discarded PET bottles. It is not particularly favored among 3D printers, yet it can really be printed from. Come and see for yourself!” invites Šimon Prokop from the PET-MAT research group for Saturday evening. The premiere screening of the film "Industriály", a documentary probe by doctoral candidates, educators, and the Research Center for Industrial Heritage at CTU, focused on creatively revitalizing abandoned industrial sites and integrating them back into life, will take place at 9 PM at the faculty. Visitors to the virtual reality exhibition of the new research facility VR MOLAB will have the opportunity to experience an entirely unconventional approach to depicting and designing architecture firsthand. The Prague Museum Night program runs from 7 PM to 1 AM. Access to the CTU Faculty of Architecture building is barrier-free.
