Dubai - Dubai is starting the construction of the largest shopping complex. As reported by CNN, the emirate, which boasts many superlatives, is no longer interested in beating others, so in this case, it will surpass its own record. In the new giant complex, shops are expected to attract up to 80 million customers annually. Everything will be set within a park one-third larger than London’s Hyde Park. In addition to the shopping center, 100 hotels and a family entertainment park will also be built. The world's largest shopping complex is currently the Dubai Mall with over 1,200 stores, an aquarium, and an ice rink. It was completed four years ago and attracts 700,000 visitors each week. The new center will be named after the Dubai emir Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum and aims to attract even more tourists and shopping enthusiasts to Dubai. Dubai is already attractive to visitors, as revenue from tourism increases by 13 percent annually and from retail by 25 percent. While Dubai starts building a mammoth shopping center, in Abu Dhabi plans are being made to surpass the Egyptian pyramids. Bulgarian-born sculptor Christo has designed a giant sculpture that will be constructed over 30 months by several hundred people from 400,000 colorfully painted oil barrels. The object resembling a pyramid with a truncated top will measure 150 meters, exceeding the height of the Great Pyramid of Giza by more than three meters. The sculpture will be created in the desert about 160 kilometers from Abu Dhabi and will become a landmark of the landscape. Christo first began thinking about the project 30 years ago. He was inspired by the colors of the desert. "As soon as the sun rises, the vertical wall will look golden," he said. The $320 million project will mainly be funded by the sale of his works.
