Zlín – An exhibition Inspiration: Le Corbusier will begin at the Zlín Castle on Wednesday, May 3. It will transport visitors from Zlín to the collective house Unité d'Habitation in Marseille, showcasing the concepts and ideas of the architecture giant, Swiss Le Corbusier, through authors' photographs and his unrealized projects in Zlín. This was announced today by Anežka Gavendová from the cultural and creative center Živý Zlín.

The authors of the exhibition are Adéla Bačová and Lenka Sršňová. The opening will take place during the design festival Zlin Design Week. "Recently, we visited the first collective house Unité d'Habitation in Marseille. The experience of the entire building, its atmosphere, and the vibrations of the city left us with a desire to present the ideas and impact of Le Corbusier in Zlín as well,” stated Sršňová. According to Bačová, the concepts and principles of Le Corbusier's work still resonate in society today. "His work often inspires today’s creators. We did not want to conceive the exhibition solely as a look into the past, which is why we decided to engage with companies and designers whose work references 20th-century architecture,” Bačová added.

The exhibition will feature the Japanese brand Tajimi Custom Tiles, the manufacturer of bent furniture TON, the Danish company Tekla, French designers Aurélie Benoit, Marie Bonnot, Frédérick Gautier, Franco-British designer Pauline Hagan, Slovak designer Adriana Šatková, and the Czech studio Palma de Alma. The opening will be held on May 4, and a lecture by Maxime Forest, a French specialist on Le Corbusier's architecture, will take place the following day.

"We are pleased to bring not only concerts, film screenings, and other events to the castle but also the theme of design. The concept of this exhibition is interesting, and the approach of the authors is well thought out to the details. I am glad that we can collaborate with young creators and support their work, especially when they deserve public attention for their talent,” said the director of the Živý Zlín center, Jana Kubáčová. The exhibition will last until May 28.
