Last year, the long-planned reconstruction of Dominikánské náměstí in Brno took place. The square, which had served as a parking lot for years, was transformed into a dignified gathering and social space, so that its design and appearance reflected the significance of the area in front of the city administration building.
Following these modifications, the idea emerged to build water features that would not only contribute to the character of the place but also cool the surface of the square in the summer months. A smaller water feature was planned for the area in front of St. Michael's Church, and a larger fountain was to be situated in the central part of the square in front of the New Town Hall building, in an area bounded by four plane trees and four stone benches.
In December of last year, the city of Brno announced an architectural and artistic competition for the design of water features at Dominikánské náměstí. The results can be viewed starting from June 2, 2020. We warmly look forward to your visit.

The festive opening of the exhibition at Urban Center Brno on Mečová Street 5 in the Old Town Hall will take place on June 9, 2020, at 5:00 PM.

5:00 PM - Opening remarks: Gabriel Kurtis
5:15 PM - Jazz improvisation on the theme: Radim Hanousek
5:30 PM - Presentation of the winning design by the authors
