September 13–21, 2025 Venice Glass Week, Hub Under 35, Galleria di Piazza San Marco, Venice, Italy
Graduate of the Glass Studio at UMPRUM Anna Martinková will present her project at the Venice Glass Week 2025 festival in the exhibition Hub Under 35, which is a tribute to Baroque Gothic and architect Santini-Aichel.
Anna Martinková has chosen to present her two works in an installation titled Tribute to Baroque Gothic. Both pieces reference the buildings of Czech Baroque architect Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel, who had Italian roots. The works Kropenka and Santini in a Nutshell refer to the connection of Czech-Italian inspirational sources from the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. The object Santini in a Nutshell was created in collaboration with glassmaker and educator Ivan Pokorný from UMPRUM.
Venice Glass Week is an international festival founded in 2017 with the aim of celebrating, supporting, and promoting the art of glassmaking, for which the city of Venice has been famous worldwide for over a thousand years. Venice Glass Week HUB Under 35 focuses on supporting young artists and this year includes a curated selection of 30 young artists.
Anna Martinková is an artist who primarily expresses herself through the medium of glass. In her work, she finds unique approaches to this material and emphasizes her hands-on processing of it. For this reason, it is not possible to find two identical objects in her installations. Each piece is created independently as an original under her hands. Interaction with the material and the working process are two fundamental aspects that are crucial for the outcome. Anna is currently creating in the Glass Studio at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague under the supervision of Rony Plesl and Klára Horáčková. Her work has received the award for Good Student Design.
