Osaka – Czechs in collaboration with the construction company Daisue announce the completion of the shell of the Czech national pavilion, including the installation of all glass façade panels. The last glass panel was installed on Monday, January 6, 2025, nearly three weeks earlier than originally planned.
Czech workers from the company Wieden, who installed the glass façade in Japan, are now heading home. Only the Japanese construction company Daisue will continue with further work. The Czech national pavilion's general commissioner for the Czech participation at Expo 2025, Ondřej Soška, and the president of the Japanese construction company Daisue communicated this directly to Japanese journalists at the Czech national pavilion.
"Currently, the construction of internal partitions and finishing works is underway, as well as the installation of air conditioning, electricity, and other facilities. After the smoothly ongoing Czech-Japanese cooperation, we are now even more dedicated to completing this stunning building with a comprehensive, modern, innovative, and beautiful design rapidly, but safely,” says Kazunori Murao, the CEO and president of Daisue Construction, adding: "I am pleased with how precise and quick the Czechs were in their work and how high-quality materials they brought to Japan.”
All key parts of the pavilion, i.e., wooden spruce CLT panels and glass façade, were manufactured in the Czech Republic, involving six Czech subcontractors in the process. The pre-prepared parts of the pavilion then traveled from the Czech Republic in 69 containers to Germany's largest port in Hamburg, from where they sailed for about 8-10 weeks to Osaka, where the components were gradually assembled at Yumeshima.
The gates of the world exhibition, which will take place this year in Osaka, Japan, will open on April 13, 2025. Japanese visitors will also be able to admire the Czech national pavilion, which will be one of nearly fifty unique national pavilions, each constructing a building according to its own architectural design. More than a hundred other countries will present themselves in shared or pre-prepared pavilions.
