Russian attacks in Kharkiv killed four people and damaged an architectural monument

Kyiv - An evening Russian bombing attack on the second largest Ukrainian city of Kharkiv damaged a significant architectural monument, referred to as the first Soviet skyscraper. This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on X network. Nine people were injured in the attack. In a later attack on Kharkiv, at least four people were killed, announced the city's mayor Ihor Terekhov. One person was killed and another 11 injured in an evening attack in the city of Kryvyi Rih, where a Russian missile damaged a three-story residential building, reported Reuters. Kyiv was also targeted by a Russian drone attack last night.

According to Oleg Syniehubov, head of the regional administration, a Russian guided bomb FAB-500 in Kharkiv damaged the Derzhprom building, one of the symbols of the city, dating back to the 1920s. "The Russian airstrike severely damaged the Derzhprom building in Kharkiv, one of the most famous constructivist buildings in the world under temporary expanded UNESCO protection," Zelensky stated.

According to Syniehubov, several floors of the building, completed in 1928 when Kharkiv was the capital of Soviet Ukraine, were destroyed. The evening attack also hit a medical facility.

Four people were killed in the early hours during a later attack on the Kharkiv district of Osnovyanskyi. Syniehubov initially reported three victims of the attack, stating that rescuers were searching for more victims, including children who might have been trapped under the rubble.

According to Terekhov, the attack occurred around 3:00 AM local time. Two houses were destroyed, and about 20 others were damaged. The mayor stated that the attack was likely carried out by a guided aerial bomb KAB.

Zelensky emphasized on X regarding the attacks that every handshake with a "war criminal," Russian President Vladimir Putin, reinforces his self-confidence. "Every nice smile convinces him that his crimes can go unpunished," Zelensky wrote.

At least two people were injured by falling debris from a Russian drone during a nighttime drone attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. This was announced today by city mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, who stated that one residential building also caught fire. Rescue teams were sent to the attack site in the Solomianskyi district. The military administration of Kyiv region stated on Telegram that Ukrainian air defense forces were trying to repel the Russian drone attack.

One of the injured was, according to Klitschko, taken to the hospital. Several vehicles also caught fire after the attack, the mayor added on the Telegram platform.

Moscow denies that it targets civilians in the war sparked by its invasion of the neighboring country in February 2022. Thousands of civilians have been killed in the war, mostly Ukrainians, and many Ukrainian cities and villages have turned into piles of rubble.
