The architectural study for the renovation of the center of Zlín will be prepared by the team of Jiřičná

Zlín - The architectural study for the renovations of Zlín's center will be prepared by the company AI-DESIGN, led by architect Eva Jiřičná. The city's mayor, Irena Ondrová, informed journalists of this today. In the future, a modern appearance will be given to the extensive area bordered by the Congress Center, T.G. Masaryk Square, the Big Cinema, and the underpass to Práce Square. The reconstruction will cost more than 100 million crowns. The city hall will use money from European funds that were saved during the construction of the Congress Center.
     The Congress Center, along with the University Center, which was built nearby by Tomas Bata University, forms a unified complex. The author of the project, architect and Zlín native Eva Jiřičná, was inspired by the schools that stood on the site during the era of T. G. Masaryk.
    “We approached AI-DESIGN to ensure there was a logical continuity in the concept of the whole space, so that the Congress Center would seem to continue further,” Ondrová noted. The city will pay approximately one million crowns for the study.
    As the first step, the city hall will have the underpass connecting the factory complex and Práce Square renovated. An escalator, which has not been working for several years, will be put into operation later this year. Next year, renovation work on the entire modernization will begin. The city will repair the electrical installations and sanitary facilities. The project includes the installation of an area for wheelchair users. The architect will then determine the design and placement of shops in the underpass. The investment will cost at least 30 million crowns.
