Plzeň - The architecture course, jewelry creation for advanced students, as well as courses focused on new media will be the novelties of this year's eighth edition of the international summer school ArtCamp, organized by the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň. Less than a week after the enrollment opened, for example, the serigraphy course was already filled by interested participants. The event, which brings hundreds of participants from around the world to Plzeň every year and will take place from July 9 to July 27, will host six artists from abroad. Lenka Kodýtková, the operational director of the summer school, told ČTK about this.

"Over the course of three weeks, 24 art courses will take place. The basic offer of popular courses focused, for example, on digital photography, comics, figure drawing, illustration, bookbinding, fashion design, interior design, graphic design, or jewelry creation will be supplemented by a number of novelties," she stated.
For example, those interested in studying shoe design can take a preparatory course where they will gain experience with shoe designs and their manual realization. For fans of modern technologies, the school offers a digital animation course and courses focused on new media, multimedia performance, and participatory art. "Drawing and painting will be presented in a new way, and a new course on architecture and advanced jewelry creation is also being introduced," added Kodýtková.
The courses are intended for the general public as well as for current or future students of artistic fields. Some of them will be led by guest artists, such as Professor Karol Weisslechner from the Bratislava Academy of Fine Arts for the advanced jewelry creation course. "Dion McInnis, a photographer and writer from a partner American university in Houston, will come for the third time to lead the digital photography course. His colleague Anne Henry will lead a course focused on digital storytelling or computer animation using Flash software," Kodýtková added. Educators from the University of Miami will also come to Plzeň. The traditional drawing course will be taught by Professor Pawel Frackiewicz from the Wrocław Academy of Fine Arts.
The deadline for enrollment is mid-May, but the courses are already filling up. Complete information is available at www.uud.zcu.cz/artcamp.
