Břeclav - Břeclav plans to build a bicycle parking building near the main train station next year. According to coalition councilor Milan Vojta (ANO), the estimated cost of construction is 10 million crowns. Most of the expenses should be covered by a grant from the European Union. The building is expected to accommodate around 120 bicycles, with a fee of five crowns per day. The city aims to increase security with this initiative.
The parking facility is intended to resemble a tower. "Something similar can currently be found in Hradec Králové or Přerov. It is a very interesting building architecturally and aesthetically," said Vojta.
The building will be located at the station, which also includes an integrated transport terminal. "Cyclists arriving at the bus or train station will be able to securely park their bikes and find them safely upon their return," Vojta stated.
A person can insert their bike into the entrance after paying the fee, and an automatic system will store the bike on the upper floor and take care of everything. When the owner inserts the ticket back, the building will return the bike. "From a technological standpoint, this is a novelty. We are receiving positive feedback from citizens. This will increase security. Some tenants in apartments do not leave their more expensive bikes in bike storage and take them home. If these people have visitors and lack space, they can keep their bikes in the building for a few days," Vojta added.
