Brno - The Brno district of Královo Pole is preparing the renovation of Božetěchov sad for approximately 40 million crowns. The deputy mayor of the district, Zbyněk Šolc (ODS), said this to journalists today. According to him, the park should serve all generations. Most of the costs could be covered by grants, which the municipality will seek together with the city hall. Part of the expenses may be paid by Brno, and the rest will be covered by the district.
The renovation of the park, also known as Kadetka, has been in preparation for several years. "Due to the historical value of the park, it is necessary to discuss future interventions with monument preservationists. It is important to maintain the memorial significance of the burial site of the Red Army soldiers and respect the needs of the church and the parish," said Šolc.
The park will feature areas for sports activities and relaxation. "We will create facilities for small cultural and social events. We are also considering wi-fi coverage, sufficient lighting, video surveillance, and the possibility of locking the park at night," said Šolc.
According to him, there is also discussion about the possibility of establishing facilities for the park's management. "There are also accommodating entrepreneurs in gardening and fishing in the area, so we are considering ways to provide services, such as a fish café or similar activities," said Šolc. According to him, representatives of the municipality are also negotiating with the Directorate of Roads and Highways about possible soundproofing for the park, as it is adjacent to the busy Sportovní street.
Brno has 29 districts, and Královo Pole is one of the larger ones. It has about 25,000 inhabitants and a budget of around 250 million crowns.
