Brno – Brno will commission a project to connect the Rakovec bay on the Brno Reservoir with the Rakovecká tram loop. The not-too-long pathway is expected to cost around 31 million crowns, as the city will also construct sewage, water supply, and public lighting here. It has currently commissioned the winning firm for design work costing nearly two million crowns, stated Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS) in a press release. Currently, only a worn path leads from the stop.
The new path will serve pedestrians and cyclists and will significantly improve access to the reservoir. During wet and rainy weather, the current path has often been muddy. "Along the new trail, benches, waste bins with a fixed structure, charging stations for e-bikes, and new greenery will also be added," Vaňková stated. The documentation for the zoning decision is expected to be completed by mid-next year, but the date for the actual construction has not yet been decided.
The project fits into many others that have significantly helped to cultivate and enhance the vicinity of the Brno Reservoir over the last decade. Not only has the water in the reservoir been clean enough for swimming for ten years, but thousands of people spend their leisure time around it. The city has improved many paths, built various playgrounds for children and sports facilities for adults, and ensured better access to the water. The docking station for water transport is still relatively new, from where boats of the transport company regularly set sail from April to October. This year, interest in them has reached a modern record.
